Problem Plant!! Need advice

Looks like an emersed Java fern of somesort. Put it in the tank and it will convert to its submersed form.

I think it is a Java Fern as well, it is both definitely a fern, and it definitely isn't Bolbitis heteroclita, that has 3 definite segments to the frond.

As well as the simple fronded type of Java fern there are other more divided forms available.

yup agree. maybe add some nutrients to your tank water as well, this should get rid of your spots. cheers jk :thumbup:

ok, thanks everyone, yeah, java fern, but was very concerned about it's deterioration , thought maybe a critter was living on them.. did not look like this when I bought it. ok will put it in the tank this weekend .

Just be aware that the submerged version of a java fern will produce black spots too, this is not a disease but growth spores from which new java ferns grow

you might like to clean the plant in salt water then rinse before adding to tank - this will help kill any criters or snails living on plant.

whew,ok thanks for that info, I bought it, looked fine, it has been submerged ( I just pulled it out for a pic) but not in tank water. So the marks are not from critters, cool ,feel 100% better now:nw:
