I've always fed hikari wafers... I think they're great.

A 1kg bag... your pleco's must love you.

I've tried mine on king british but they didn't seem to like them, so I stuck with hikari

As your research probably pointed out, Hikari algae wafers have a fair amount of animal proteins which can be harmful and cause intestinal problems. Have a look at the nutritional info & ingredients & you'll see that animal/fish meal is pretty high on the list of ingredients. If fed in moderation it shouldn't pose much of a problem though. As the previous poster noted there are many that feed it almost exclusively & don't have problems but it is something to be aware of.

I love hikari, so do my fish, but becareful of bloat.
the vegetarian fish need to be watched more carefully.
so mine dont get them every day, Wardley are better for the fish but hard to obtain

You can guarantee, in a few generations time, plecos will start exhibiting wheat intolerances
