My 3 ft 150L tank has been up and running for a few months on sponge filters with good water parameter readings but the peppermint colony which resides in the tank has recently started to breed so I'm thinking I need to increase the filtration to keep the filtration ahead of the increased stocking.
I'm looking at either an Eheim Classic 2213 which is rated at 400 L/H or an Eheim Classic 2215 which is rated at 620 L/H. I'm not too sure what a good filtration rate is for fresh water but in my Salt water tank im running a 1000L/H pump in my 100L reef tank + a 1000L/H powerhead. I know that fresh water needs alot less than salt water so would the 2213 be enough or just be safe and go for the 2215?

I like the 2217 to be honest. I've run them on 2 foot tanks even. They do a great job and pepps are dirty, especially when you've got fry & the extra zucchini waste etc.
The good thing with the 2217 is that if you decide to upgrade the tank size you'll be able to keep using it rather than buy something bigger. Keep the sponge filters in there too ;)
