is it ok to have the gravel barely covering ?

hi , I am talking about my 20g , which I have been fighting columnaris for nearly 2 months . Yesterday I removed quite a bit , and there are some small bald spots . Reason is I am hoping this will make it easier to clean . Is this ok ?

Shouldn't be a worry. If you remove gravel do it slowly over time rather than all in one go but a lot of my tanks have hardly any gravel now & I haven't lost fish touch wood

Should be fine, most of my tanks have about 1/4 inch. Makes for easy maintainence.
