L282 are L97 ? Thoughts

Hello All,

I am the proud owner of 4 L282, as per all of my threads. I do not doubt this.
I spread my joy to my German friends in form www.l-welse.com under thread http://www.l-welse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28596&highlight=l282
to tell them how chuffed I am with photos etc. They have now informed me that L282 was only exported once and that the L282 are actually L97. Now irrespective of what they are, can somebody shed some light on this debate ? Because I just would like to know out of curiosity. cheers jk :thumbup:
PS I am sure as per various photos from others that these are L282 P Alenquer and not L97.

First i have heard of this BB, i have heard however that L282 are considerably rarer than L97. One saving grace is that you have juvies and at that size i doubt many people could give a 100% positive ID.

Excuse me fir saying this but how the heck do they know what's imported all around the world? Plain and simple they don't it's just ridiculous for them to say such things. Around here the l-282 has been imported more often in the last few years than the l-97.

As the 282 is extremely rare, these various forums get monitored and they share info. They state the L282 is from Venezuela and the 97 from Brasil and mostly that is what they base it on. As usual, exporters ex South America also lable wrong . Please do not get me wrong these fish are stunners and that is why I bought them. I agree, the juvenile pattern does not look like the L97, maybe even more like the L082. Just is interesting to find out what these are and I guess I have to wait 1 or 2 years to mature and find out. They are L282 and not Alenquer, They are still young and 100% sure L282. There is a great controversy as the collection point - they came from Brazil and not Venezuela.

I got about 30 or so all different sizes in Dec 2010. I kept a few of those and they have developed in a nice adult colony.

The ones from http://www.l-welse.com must be 2-4 inches max and they do resemble the L82 appearance but they can easily be distinguished for its flat head.
