Eheim EHFI LAV volcanic bio filtration

Hi All,

I use in my filters, Eheim Ehfi Mech, Substrate pro and the new Mech Pro Spirals.
Have just seen this below
Eheim Ehfi Lav / EhfiLav Volcanic Biological Filter 5L
When I read up on it, it is ideal for ponds and aquariums with high debris, like Ls.
Has anybody used this ?

I have never used the Eheim lava rock, but I do use plain lava rock in one chamber of my big sump. It seems to work well as it has lots of surface area for bio filtration. I have heard people on other forums say it gets plugged up easily but I have not had this problem. I think pre-filtering is important to pull the gunk out.

I use regular lava rock as well in my canisters. It works well as Stan said. Cheap and works great. I just break it up with a hammer into smaller chunks.

Hi Bigbird i have used this in one of my canisters for years ! no problems with it.
mine worked out very cheep as it had slight dammage to the box ;o)
