Has anyone used this before in their pleco tanks?

Richgro coco-peat blocks are readily available here but im unsure how suitable they are for using in aquariums. Specifically, I would like something that will give the water a tannin colour and hopefully soften then water slightly..

Any help would be really appreciated :)

Cocopeat is simply ground coconut husk. I use a similar product for land turtles & tortoises. Cocopeat will tannin stain your water far worse than any driftwood & I believe it has a lot of salts in it from the processing. You'll need to soak it & rinse it to remove the salts & some of the tannins.
