I tend not to fiddle with the pH much and near enough is good enough.

Bad idea the other day to add one lousy teaspoon of cichlid buffer to a 200L drum though. Shot it up to pH9!!!
Had to drain out 3/4 of the water and add in pure rainwater to pull it down to 7.6 which is close enough for me as my tanks usually drop ph down to as low as 6 in between wc and a little bit higher ph wc would bring it up to about 6.8 to 7ish.

Tell you what, that cichlid buffer bottle is going to last ages and ages if I only need a tiny little pinch per 200L. :)

wish i could use rain water.we are getting water meters soon round here :(
Bad when you have kids as they leave the taps running then you have to tell them they aren't allowed the xbox to make up for the water they just wasted, which is my way of offsetting. Don't flush the toilet. If you have an outside tap make sure others aren't nicking your water. Our neighbour didn't realise the kids were using theirs on a water meter to fill water pistols and water bombs.

Water meters should be banned, doubt you can bypass those as well.
