In the past when I have used PVC pipping for caves I have never had a problem. Just make sure they are cleaned , sharp edges removed etc. I did however move away from PVC pipping, when I found the clay caves. cheers jk :thumbup:

White PVC is designed for potable water, so if its good enough for you it should be good enough for the fish. People have used PVC for years without issue.

PVC is very safe. I use it for breeding other fish. However, its light weight may cause a problem in the heat of courtship as it will move around a lot and would result in abrupt interruption of the process. Clay or slate are much more stable. Even then, I would see my clay caves move around if not weighted down by wood and such.
