As with other Pterygoplichthys, should have more than 10 rays in the dorsal fin
. Brownish coloured with gold spots which aren't uniform, spots aren't necessarily circular.
A pleco with lots of character and not really shy. Not a good companion with similar sized pleco's as can be territorial and especially around food.
Sexing and Breeding:
Sexing most likely by inspecting the genital papillae
. Breeding in an aquarium is highly unlikely although they are farm bred.
An omnivore that needs veggies and wafers, also enjoys meaty foods like prawns sometimes.
Not too fussy, will suit most water conditions. Temp should be between 25c and 28c.
Needs a large aquarium due to the size it reaches as an adult.
Cover should also be provided, even though not really a shy pleco, likes to have somewhere to retreat away from the open.
