hi, welcome ! wonder if you were also given the tank for them ? not sure about the shrimp, but the guppies are tropical fish and will need filteration, heter, and most important : you need to know about the nitrification cycle ,read up on it as this is the first thing that must be done when starting a tank. To keep your new arrivals alive, if you dont have other tanks , you will need to read everything you can about cycling your tank/filters and in the meantime, you will prob need to do alot of water changes until the cycle is complete. And if you are using tap water treated with chlorine and chlorimides, you will need to us a product which removes them everytime you change water or toxic to fish. also, if you change water with buckets , you need to keep the water same temp as tank so not shock fish, this all depends on your setup and sounds like you are just starting out ...asking is good ,,, reading is optimal in fishkeeping...sorry ,didnt mean to overwhelm ya ,seems like you are trying to do right by them.

perhaps other members can chime in here .
Good luck:hi:

Agree with Zeebo, if you have to cycle the tank yet, you will kill the shrimp & fish, You can use these two products, as per directions on bottle...They are Seachem Stability & Seachem Prime...
Both need filtration, The products will help to keep the water stable enough for the critters to be uneffected by the toxins while cycling, any weak critters may still die..
The temp should be 24>26, pH neutral, go take a look at the invert topics..
Good luck
Another idea is to get a lfs to fish sit for you while you cycle tank...

oh, glad to hear 22 ! you are on the right track :):)

still, you will need to test that amonia and nitrItes, keep them down with wc's and watch for nitrAtes to appear , then a reading of amonia -0 , nitrites-0 and nitrates showing under 20 but preferably under 10, you're home free- your cycle is complete ,but you have prob already read up on all that by now and since you know your ph, you must have a test kit ,so great job. just keep an eye on the water and fish behavior as the lit will tell ya.

good job and good luck !
