Choose an easy to breed pleco who has lots and lots of fry.
Usually something in the lines of ancistrus bristlenose which if you are lucky, both fishkeepers and petshops may buy from you.

The cost of tank and equipment, food and electricity are high and it can be time consuming raising fry to saleable size.

very hard to breed for profit, breed for the pleasure of it and the young help to pay towards the running costs and their food.

Just remember the higher price and hard to get can die just as easy as a $1 guppy.
and from my experience because the $1 guppy gave them a disease :lol:
I'm only a beginner but have found if you get the right peppermint or other bristlenose breeders you can make some steady cash until the market dries up then you try something else. As long as you are doing it for the love of fish the rest is a bonus
