Black spot on L397 snout

Just noticed today when I rearranged the tank that there was a little black/brown spot on the juvies snout.
Any idea what it is?
Another question, is this cave too small/tight for this guy?

Might be just a birthmark or something. Doesn't look like an injury.
Yes that cave is too small and he's outgrown it.
Ideally a cave should fit one side fin relaxed and the other folded back.
That way they can exercise a little in the log as they spend many hours in it at a time.
