Its only the body shape that is making me say female for the first one... its clearly hairy'er than the other...

These fish really require a topographical pic to sex as shape and genitall papilla are the only real ways to do it.
i'll try my best, not gonna be easy though, what am i looking for? im moving the tanks soon so will be able to get some decent pics as i have to move them all.
get a good clear close up of their "bits"

What you need to look at is the vent/papilia. This is on the underside of the pleco just before the tail, basically its where the poo comes from. Females are a U shape while the males are a V shape.
Here's a pictures of a Panaque cochliodons papilia to give you an idea:

I think its just because it a close macro shot, from further back it looks more pointed. If you get shots of your 2 then hopefully they should be different.
